The 500SEC on offer here was used personally by Prince Rainier, who had bought the car new from the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Monaco. He had ordered a special finish at AMG and that included a special steering wheel, a rear spoiler, special side sills, the rims, suspensions with lowered springs, an integral paint covering the entire car, including grille and window surrounds. The maintenance log indicates a service on March 29, 1983, at 1,963km, and mechanics subjected the car to a recent re-start, during which the fuel pump was replaced with a new one.
