It's a quick flip of the car that sold at RM Sotheby's this summer. RM claimed it was a 5.0L and not a 6.0L. Sad to see that this dealer thinks he can scam someone.

Addendum

Please note that due to California emissions, this vehicle must be sold to a dealer or out-of-state resident.

Built to replace the long-running and outdated R107, the Mercedes-Benz R129 models were announced in 1989. Produced as a two-door, two-seat grand tourer with an automated soft top and a color-matched aluminum detachable hard top, the flagship of the R129 range was the 500 SL.

Records accompanying this Mercedes-Benz 500 SL indicate that it was ordered from the country of Jordan and completed in July of 1990. The car was finished in Blauschwarz (blue-black) over black leather interior. While initial ownership is unknown, the car ended up in Japan where it is believed to have resided for 26 years. In 2018 the 500 SL was imported from Japan to the United States and shortly thereafter acquired by the consignor. A 2018 invoice totaling over $30,000 illustrates a bevy of mechanical services commissioned and executed by the consignor once the car reached stateside.

While the car exhibits some AMG-inspired styling cues including ground effects, exhaust tip, and ducktail-style trunk, there is no proof to substantiate AMG modified this car. Incorrect details include the use of later AMG badges glued on the engine cover, as well as the car retaining its non-upgraded factory gauge cluster and steering wheel. This in addition to the fact that this 500 SL retains its original 5.0-liter V-8 engine and does not exhibit the upgraded AMG stroke specifications, leads one to believe it was never modified by AMG.

The Blauschwarz (blue-black) exterior is paired to a menacing set of 17-inch staggered, three-piece OZ Racing ‘Monoblock III’ alloy wheels sporting color-matched faces. Inside, well-conditioned black leather and walnut burl furnish every conceivable surface. The metric gauge cluster displays 35,186 kms (~21,864 miles). The car is accompanied by Daimler vehicle data sheet, Japan export documents, and a service invoice from 2018.
