This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SL is a European-market example that was reportedly imported to California in 1985, and it spent time in Pennsylvania and Florida prior to the selling dealer’s 2016 acquisition. The car was refinished in 2019 in its original Classic White over Palomino leather. Paint and trim are excellent monochromatic.Power comes from a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential, and equipment includes a color-matched removable hardtop, a tan soft top, an AMG body kit, AMG Penta-style wheels, cruise control, power-adjustable mirrors, automatic climate control, and an aftermarket Alpine head unit. Recent service consisted of an engine oil change, recharging the air-conditioning system, and replacement of the battery and the spark plugs.. A color-matched AMG body-kit, rear spoiler, and side skirts were reportedly fitted when new, and the exterior was refinished in June 2019 in its factory Classic White (737) with color-matched trim and bumpers. The body-color removable hardtop can be viewed in the photo gallery below along with the tan soft top shown in its raised position, and additional equipment includes European-specification headlights and front fog lights. AMG Penta-style alloy wheels are finished in silver with bright lips and wear 225/50 Hankook Ventus V2 Concepts. The interior features seats upholstered in Palomino leather with matching door panels and carpets, along with burl wood trim on the center console and two-tone dashboard dashboard. Dashboard is all original without cracks. Factory equipment includes cruise control, power windows, and automatic climate control. The four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock, as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and instant economy. The six-digit odometer shows just under 54k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the selling dealer. The 5.0-liter M117 V8 produced 237 horsepower and 296 lb-ft of torque when new. An August 2019 service consisted of a tune up, an oil change, recharging the air-conditioning system, and replacement of the battery and spark plugs.
