Agreed totally, but it has nothing to do with real AMG, and the AMG is what makes this price

Re: 1990 MERCEDES-BENZ 560 SERIES AMG $179K
if they had simply put "AMG Tribute/Replica/Clone" in the lot title than it would have made the auction much more pleasant and transparent.
I also did not appreciate the blurb included by MBmarket which went as follows;
"In recent years the value of ‘pre-merger’ AMG cars have begun to soar. As these cars continue to grab the spotlight at auctions and private sales alike, the values only seem to be rising. The term ‘pre-merger’ is still new to many, but refers to the cars modified by AMG prior to the formal purchase of AMG by Mercedes-Benz. One of AMG’s greatest achievements is the legendary version of the 500/560SEL and current market trends are very strong as there are so few of them to be found. This example is even more interesting with an upgraded 722.6 five-speed automatic transmission and 3.27 rear end. Of course we couldn't help ourselves and had to drive this car firsthand. Speaking from experience, we can honestly say the driving experience is extremely impressive. The M117 really wakes up with the 722.6 putting power down and the coilover suspension makes it feel more like a modern AMG in the turns. And we would be remiss if we didn't give some attention to the incredible condition of this Autobahn bruiser. From inside or out, there are no bad angles and it's truly what you'd expect from a top tier car. To put it simply, this is what a proper classic AMG should be. "
This car is a tribute; the blurb is not speaking to this car, and IMHO that is disingenuous. The word tribute is never mentioned in this blurb, which makes this even worse. It is not a pre-merger car, and so nothing in the blurb is directly relevant to the car.
Caveat emptor----it is still an awesome car, but not at all what they/seller were initially trying to pawn it off as.
Am I being a crazy hard-ass or does anyone else feel similar?
