If I could find shipping that cheap, This would be in my driveway as well. I am trying to close the deal on that drag pro street car. I cannot find shipping lower than 2000 dollars to 2500 dollars right now to Florida.

Did you try uship? When I transported my old 500se from LA to NY it cost me around $640 (port to port, I picked I up in NJ)

I doubt you can get shipping from coast to coast for under $1k, especially near that $640 range. Right now you're dealing with higher fuel pricing than a few years ago and now is the season for "snowbirds" to have their cars shipped around.

1983 500SEC euro Lorinser $1000 (Salinas, CA)

Thought kodiak'd get a kick over this one....!

Contact via PM over BW

I have a 83 500SEC Lorinser Euro that I need to get rid of. It's been sitting for 4 years as it wouldn't pass the low speed part of the smog test. I haven't started it about 2 years. It now has mice. If anyone is interested I want $1000 of which $667 will go to the Dmv for back fees. Other wise the poor old girl is going to the wrecking yard to clear the Dmv fees. In California near Salinas. Thanks

.....there was no rust when I parked her, I will have to give her a good look when I get home as 4 years of neglect can change everything. I will check on the miles also but if I remember right it was over 200k. Yes I have the title but tranfer was only partialy completed to me as the smog was never completed.

...Yes it is a real grey market car. It has the bar grey market import identification sticker along with a port of Oakland sticker, and even an old scca sticker in the door jam.

...Thanks for all the private mesages showing interest in the Lorinser stering wheel and Euro headlights. Just so no one is disapointed if I miss a reply, Out of respect for the car (and shame for neglect) I am going to give the old girl 2 week to be sold complete hopefully to someone wanting to resurect her. Yes I would make more money parting her out. Thanks for the offers though. If it comes to that I will put up a final call for offers on parts. Thanks. Jon

Very cool - I like mice. Worth it for the parts but also worth restoring.

You're right - I used DasAuto before and paid $640 - I checked and it is now $1042...perhaps the economy is finally picking up?

I know people who swear by uship too.

So that's $1000 for the car and $1000 for the transport - $2000 is not a bad deal. The rims, steering wheel, and mice will cover for that. :D

Unless there is some sort of paperwork to make this car special, I don't see this car as a worthy investment. Its value is in the parts, but if it comes to restoring a car that has been neglected and parked for a number of years... you'll deal with a whole list of repairs and catch-up maintenance. The problem with this purchase for East coast buyers is the cost to transport it will put it in a range where you can find a "better" car. West coast buyers, especially in California will have to deal with smog and DMV fees.

Richard, I had my 560SEL shipped from SoCal to Central Ohio for around $700-750 back in 2005. I used DAS and had a great experience with them. However, most of these carriers are actually agents... very rarely one deals directly with the shipper themselves.
