Guys,
A friend of mine just opened and MB shop in Costa Mesa and just got this car in for service. It appears to be the Reggie Jackson Orient Red C126 WB 32V 4 cam beauty. It only has 3,500 miles on the clock!!!!!

Chris just confirmed that, "It was in for a quick inspection before being shipped off to the east coast. The owner is or should I say was Reggie Jackson".

This is indeed gorgeous!
One question: on the front bumper i can not see the "amg" letters mark (on the lip). Is this mean that not all original bumpers had that?
Thx

AMG wide body front lips do not have the recessed lettering.

If you check this

Or this, recently on sale

Or here:

It seems to me that some bumpers had the letters. But indeed, i could find some without it. Maybe no logic, as often during premerged amg period....

Yes you're right. The gen I I euro wide front bumpers did in fact have the embossed letters, it was gen I that did not. The last example was a custom fabricated front spoiler, using a standard body lip.

I think Reggie's car has a few vacuum leaks (pic 4).... Of course, the engine is probably untouched after 30 years and the rubber bits are a smidge stiff.

The lack of AMG logo embossed into the widebody kit as well as no AMG logo in the speedometer makes me highly suspicious...

In all the links you shared, I didn't see a single one that didn't have the AMG logo embossed into the front lip.

I misspoke in my original reply. The links posted by mercepor were ROTW Gen II examples that in fact have embossed letters.
The first iteration of the Wide Body, worldwide, lacked the embossed lettering as did the second generation North American examples as ex-Reggie example above. The second generation North American Wide Bodies were fitted with essentially what was a first generation WB kit and Gen I ROTW bumpers, only they were molded as one piece.
AMG speedo gauge face was one of the many options available at the time.

While on this tangent, do we have a common factor why some AMG widebodies got the standard bumper and in effect, had their fenders tucked in to fit (like Mapearso's first Gen1 and D&W's 88 pictured) against a correct widebody bumper Gen1 and Gen2 in the final 2 pictures?
I'm guessing these WB bumper availability's were all random, even at AMG Westmont where D&W's 560SEC was given the treatment?

Short answer: Improper install resulted in "tucked" rear flares and bumpers.
The gen I euro bumper is to be widened by approx an inch on each side using custom fabricated spacers to accommodate the added fender width. As the euro bumper uses 3 piece chrome it's rather straight forward. its unclear as to how the US rear bumper can be modified to increase width.

Also. FWIW, my gen1 WB was a Barry Taylor car (supposedly was his personal car?) and was modified at his shop,. IIRC it was done early / mid 90s, maybe even later.
Long way back to 48hp's "improper install" short answer

Here's a pict, took some digging, comparing a standard euro bumper w/apron (TOP) to a standard euro bumper w/ apron (BOTTOM) but with the said bracket extensions. Hope that helps.

Confirming -- No embossing on my GenII Westmont car.

Here's a pict that highlights the widened bumper and one of the "homemade" bracket itself.
